One tepid day in January, 2017, a local group of indie game developers, designers, programmers, artists, and musicians--armed with their passion for gaming-- decided to get together and do the logical next step; start an all-synth demoscene / chiptune / video game tribute band!

FYGAR, named for the dirt-wyverns of Horinesia, melds together the sounds of ancient video game systems, the demoscene, and the best parts of the 80's and 90's.

Be sure to check out this act if you like game music, or ever wanted to see more than 1 keytar in the same place.

Sergio and the Holograms

Sergio Elisondo is a multi-instrumentalist, a visionary, and a pioneer of new forms of musical entertainment and has an insatiable appetite for pushing the boundaries of technology and music. His current works include elaborate one-man-band YouTube productions, live hologram performances, and a first-of-its kind retro NES digital musical cartridge.

His love and passion for video games and video game music has brought him to where he is today with his current productions. The YouTube videos that he makes are elaborate arrangements of video game music, often times 8-bit, that have been interpretively translated on to a multitude of real instruments. Everything is performed, recorded, mixed, and mastered by him. He then takes these arrangements and personally films, edits, and synchronizes the videos to be showcased on YouTube. He wears every hat in the process of this production.

The "Sergio and the Holograms" production is a tech-progressive live performance involving life-sized hologram projections. Essentially, he records and films all of the instrumentation to then have it projected onto multiple transparent screens to create a hologram-band around him; while he plays guitar live as the front-man. With his live hologram performances, he has successfully merged a balance of technology and music; which genuinely reflects the influence that the Bay Area has had on him. This act has been performed at highly acclaimed conventions such as PRGE 2016 (Portland Retro Gaming Convention) and CAX 2016 (California Extreme).

The NES musical cartridge "A Winner is You" by Sergio, is the first-of-its kind digital musical cartridge. This cartridge houses real recordings of real instruments, all performed and recorded by him. The data for the cartridge sits on a massive 64MB ROM, which is currently amongst the biggest to date. It's about 20 minutes long of digital audio, with the ability to pause, skip, fast-forward, rewind, or even play in slow motion; all coming from an unmodified NES console. The cartridge is currently available online.

While he makes sure his visions come to life, he has also been able to balance education and private music instruction for anyone who hungers the art. While studying in the Silicon Valley, he received his B.A. in Music and M.A. in Education from San Jose State University. He has been privately teaching music since 2008 and continues to do so all over the Bay Area. His students range from all ages, be it from 3 years old to seniors. It is never too late to start dreaming and that is a motto that he continues to strongly live by. His latest works are "A Winner is You" (digital musical cartridge) and "Ninja" -- both homebrews for the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System).
